description

In (Deanna Madden, #1) The Girl in 6E, we were introduced to Deanna Madden—who had locked herself away in a run down apartment on floor 6, room E, where she hadn't dared step outside its confines...until her job in the adult industry as a sex-camgirl lured her out of her self-imposed prison with the promise she'd get blood on her hands.

Freedom can be a drug. The more you get, the more you want.

Then (Deanna Madden, #2) Do Not Disturb begins weeks after Deanna's wicked thoughts took control of her mind, and possessed her body to do a terrible, bloody, deathly deed. Although her bloodlust isn't sated, it never is; it's just contained beyond an easily opened steel door.

...just a door—so, so easily opened...

And the more Jeremy Bryant (Deanna's UPS delivery man) temps Deanna into thoughts of a normal life, the harder she pushes against that door—which is was the only barrier between herself and the outside world, where her bloody insanity threatens to murder and maim.
”…I’m a fight over flight girl. I see RUN and I think WAR.”

Delving into Deanna's mind was, once again, exhilarating—and this time, a little bit scary. Because the hope I felt for her, with her, as she pushed and pulled and obliterated her boundaries, was the endless sound of my pounding heartbeat and the grimy feel of my sweaty palms. I was happy for her little piece of normal, but terrified it wouldn't last...
I'm in danger of falling for a man who will one day discover the black actions of my soul and leave me. He is in danger of falling for a girl who may one day kill him.
...like Deanna and Jeremy's somewhat-unconventional relationship (which had begun budding in The Girl in 6E) that was in full-bloom in Do Not Disturb. With each kiss, each touch, each loving, tender fuck, between them, gave Deanna a bit of herself—a bit of normal, a bit of right, a bit of sanity—that she was deprived from in her years of confinement.

“In this moment, I give him my soul. And he takes away the death and fills me with life.”
And although Jeremy may not have wanted to know Deanna's darkest secrets, it was admirable how he still wanted her, loved her—despite the unknowns lurking in her heart.

Dr. Derek, Deanna's psychiatrist; the man who she's built a fragile doctor-patient relationship with as she confessed all of her dirty, bloody fantasies. But while Deanna only knows his carefully-controlled, deep and soothing, voice, she is intrigued by him...she lusts after him. After all, who was this mysterious man miles away, who exhales gentle sighs into the phone—who tries with his every breath, to keep Deanna contained in apartment 6E?

"This is all I need. This is stronger than my affliction, my dark needs. This is what is important. This love might be my salvation."
Although Mike (aka HackOffMyBigCock) was my favorite among all the men in Deanna's life. As a computer hacker, he has protected Deanna, enabled her, and forever and always been her partner in crime. It was heartwarming, his feelings for her, how he'd be there for her in a moments stroke of the keyboard or a press of a button 'call' on the phone. And to watch as—in Do Not Disturb—his loyalty is tested,  made my heart bleed.

Once again, A.R. Torre's writing was breathtaking. Her portrayal of the light and darkness, of love and hate, was utterly captivating. And it made Do Not Disturb a thrilling fall into the madness and mayhem that is Deanna's mind, body, and soul.
“Star light. Star bright. First star I see tonight. I wish I may, wish I might. Not kill those whom my heart holds tight.”
