I’m a loner for a reason. I don’t have much in the way of social skills. I’d rather sit on my deck and watch the sunset than hit a tavern with coworkers. My idea of grooming is to trim my beard with a straight blade when it hits my collarbone. I can’t put two words together in the company of a pretty woman…and they don’t come much prettier than wolf-shifter Madison Thorne.

She’s everything I’m not—outgoing, easy on the eyes, and sweet. There’s no way I’m convincing her to come home with me. Fortunately I don’t have to. Maddie seems to like my gruff, unpolished self. At least, she likes me enough for one night.

Get Your Shift Together is the second book in Ruby Dixon's newest (Bear Bites) series of novellas—wherein the tiny, off-the-beaten-path town of Pine Falls, which is inhabited by both humans and Shifters...

It was bad enough that wolf-shifter, Madison Thorn's, ex-boyfriend found his mate, but it was worse when he offered Madison a position in their bedroom. Shocked and hurt from her ex's offer, Madison flees the pack to run in new woods—the woods of Pine Falls...

...where she's determined not to let the thought of a mate rule her life. Instead, she focuses on her career as a stylist—except no one seems to be taking her serious; only thinking her eyes are on the look-out for love.

So to prove her heart is locked in a cage, Madison makes a bet with her friends: the next person to walk into the bar will receive a complete makeover, courtesy of Madison.

Although she didn't expect bear-shifter Chance Eddington to stomp into the bar with his dirty boots, overgrown beard, and deep, brooding scowl—and actually agree to the Madison-Makeover...

...after she had sex with him, of course.

Does a Bear Shift in the Woods is another well-written novella by Ruby Dixon that's teeming with sexy scenes and smut-loving characters.

Light BDSM makes an appearance (Bear Bites, #4) which is a nice dynamic given both Chance and Madison's preferences between the sheets. And I actually really enjoyed Ruby Dixon's take on female wolf-shiter's and their instinctual submissiveness—it was a refreshing change from the usual m/f-fight-for-dominance that is expected of shifter romances.

I've wished for more explanation/development in the characters and the entire (Bear Bites) world, and I'm happy to admit that Does a Bear Shift in the Woods gave that to me. I got a deeper peak into the nature of the shifter's in (Bear Bites) as well as better understanding of the main characters, which made it easier to connect with them

Ultimately, I really do look forward to watching this series continue to evolve into something grrrrrrr-reat! And of course I would recommend Does a Bear Shift in the Woods—especially for those readers who seek short, slightly over-the-top, smutty paranormal romance books.
